Igor Stimac sacked: Top five candidates for India head coach role
Stimac was sacked as India coach after 1-2 loss to Qatar that ended FIFA World Cup qualification hopes.
Stimac was sacked as AIFF feels a new head coach is needed.
We now take a look at five coaches who could replace Stimac as India head coach.
Mahesh Gawli (Assistant coach, India) -- He has spent a lot of time with the Indian team and is best placed to replace Stimac.
Khalid Jamil (Coach, Jamshedpur FC) -- He is a proven coach in domestic football with multiple years of experience.
Renedy Singh (Assistant coach, Bengaluru FC) -- He is a former India captain and an AFC Pro Diploma holder.
Owen Coyle (Coach, Chhenaiyin FC) -- The former Bolton coach is known for his man management and also has experience of working in India.
Ashley Westwood (Coach, Afghanistan) -- He has had successful time in India as a coach at club level and is now doing well with Afghanistan.
