Shubman Gill registered his 3rd Test century in the 2nd IND vs ENG Test, at VDCA stadium, Visakhapatnam on Feb 4, 2024 (Sunday).

India needed some stability in the 2nd session of day 3, after losing the openers and looking in bad shape at 30 for 2.

Coming at no 3, the Indian Test maestro scored the 100 runs off 132 balls, including 11 fours and 2 sixes.

With Gill’s crucial hundred, team India now has over 350 run lead, which is a troubling factor for the visitors.

Soon after his ton, Gill was dismissed by debutant Bashir at 104 (147), owing to his failed attempt at reverse sweeping.

He is the only Indian no. 3 batter to have scored a Test century since Cheteshwar Pujara’s Nagpur 2017 ton.

Gill’s last Test century came in March 2023 against Australia, where he scored 128 in Ahmedabad.

His first Test century came in 2022 against Bangladesh, where he scored 110 runs in Chattogram.
