The Geological Survey of India (GSI) found lithium deposits for the first time in the country on February 9, 2023.

The 5.9 million tonne of Lithium inferred resources were found in the Reasi district of Jammu and Kashmir.

As per government officials, lithium reserve found in J&K is of the best quality.

A crucial mineral for manufacturing of electric vehicles & solar panels, Lithium falls under critical resource category which was not earlier available in India.

The lithium found in J&K is of 500 parts per million (PPM) plus grading as against the normal grade of 220 ppm.
