Indians Can Easily Get SIM Card From 2024: Here's How

India mobile users can start getting a new SIM card without any paperwork.

The Department of Telecom has shared this update which comes into effect from January 1, 2024.

All these years, people have needed to submit a lot of documents and even fill a form to get a SIM card.

But from 2024 onwards, you won't need to give documents for a new SIM card.

In fact, the government is now ready to deploy a digital-only process for authenticating a SIM card.

It is likely to rely on your Aadhaar number and biometrics to verify the person.

Having a digital-only process could also help telcos track for SIM fraud incidents.

Getting a SIM card involved a cost earlier but these days you can get it for free.

Having a digital setup also means you can get the new SIM activated faster than before.
