Preethi Pal clinched her second medal (bronze) in the Women’s 200m T35 at the 2024 Paris Paralympics on Sunday (Sep 1).
She created history by becoming the first-ever Indian woman track and field athlete to win two medals.
Preethi clocked the personal best timing of 30.01s to finish behind the Chinese duo of Xia Zhou and Guo Qianqian.
Earlier, on Friday, she won bronze in the women's 100m T35 event, which is India's first medal in the 2024 Paralympics.
The 23-year-old clinched her first bronze of the Summer Games with a personal best time of 14.21.
Her journey is inspiring as she is a farmer’s daughter from Muzaffarnagar in Uttar Pradesh.
She had come to Paris after winning a bronze in the same event at the World Para Athletics Championships in May.
The result was a repeat of the 2024 World Para Athletics Championships in Kobe, Japan, with the Chinese duo finishing 1st and 2nd there as well.
