India’s first loss was against England in 1987 at the Wankhede Stadium by 35 runs.
They made it to the semis for the third time in 1996 but lost to Sri Lanka in Kolkata.
In 2003, Sourav Ganguly led India to a victory over Kenya in Durban to clinch a second World Cup final.
India secured a third semi-final win in 2011 against Pakistan in Mohali by 29 runs.
They went down by 95 runs against Australia in the final four of the 2015 edition at Sydney Cricket Ground.
They conceded a fourth defeat in the semi-finals against New Zealand by 18 runs in 2019 in Manchester.
