IPL 2024 likely to be hosted entirely in India despite General Election
IPL enters its 17th season this year, and will serve as a crucial tournament for players to prepare for the T20 World Cup that takes place right after
The only problem for the BCCI is the fact that the cash-rich league will be coinciding with the General Election that will also take place this summer
A BCCI official, however, has stated that the IPL will likely be hosted entirely in India this year, and that a state could opt out of hosting matches so long as they provided justifiable reason
This will be the fourth time in the history of the Indian Premier League that the tournament will be coinciding with the Lok Sabha Elections
The tournament had to be shifted entirely to South Africa during the 2009 Lok Sabha Election
The 2014 edition was partly hosted in the United Arab Emirates, with Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah hosting the first 20 matches of the season
The 12th edition of the Indian Premier League in 2019, however, was hosted entirely in India, and fans will be hoping for something similar to happen this year
