Tilak Verma became the third-youngest batter to complete 100 runs in the IPL match between RR and MI at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur on Monday.
Tilak reached the landmark aged 21 years 166 days, behind only Yashavi Jaiswal (21 years 130 days) and Rishabh Pant (20 years 218 days).
After winning the toss and opting to bat first, MI endured a nightmare start, losing both their openers within the first two overs.
Amidst the tumult, Tilak Varma and Mohammad Nabi emerged as the calming force, steadfastly weathering the storm unleashed by the opposition’s pace attack.
After Nabi's departure, Nehal Wadhera joined Tilak, and the duo posed a formidable fifth-wicket partnership of 99 runs.
Tilak was the highest contributor in the 33rd IPL innings for MI on April 22. His 65 off 45 helped them post a decent total of 179 runs.
With his stellar performance, Tilak Verma became the second-fastest Indian player to reach 1000 runs in IPL history, following only Sachin Tendulkar.
With such young talents taking up reliable roles in IPL, fans are looking forward to them achieving big feats for India as well.
