Bengaluru FC beat East Bengal FC 1-0 in their first game of the Indian Super League (ISL) 2024-25 season on Saturday.
Vinith Venkatesh struck the game's only goal in the 25th minute in their home ground, Sree Kanteerava Stadium, Bengaluru.
The winger made his ISL debut memorable by becoming the youngest ISL debutant to score at 19yr 45d and being named the Player of the Match.
East Bengal's forwards failed to impress and they took only two shots on target throughout the 90+10 minutes match.
In the 69th minute, Bengaluru substitute Diaz found the back of the net but moments later he was flagged offside.
In the 87th minute, Lalchungnunga's aggressive behaviour toward Ryan Williams got him to get sent off with a red card.
With further escalation of drama for East Bengal, captain Cleiton Silva got booked for dissent as he argued with the referee over the decision.
