Chennaiyin FC registered a 3-2 win over Odisha FC in their opening Indian Super League (ISL) 2024-25 game at the Kalinga Stadium on Saturday.
Brazillian striker Diego Maurício's early goal in the 9th minute of the match gave Odisha FC a 1-0 lead.
Samik Mitra made a great save to stop Odisha from taking the score to 2-0 with Hnamte's outstanding free-kick.
Then Farukh Choudhary levelled the score with a goal at 48' and went on to give his side a 2-1 lead by scoring another 3 minutes later.
Daniel Chima Chukwu extended Chennaiyin FC's lead by scoring the fourth goal of the game at 69'.
Roy Krishna pulled one back for Odisha and reduced the margin in the dying minute of the game to 2-3.
Chennaiyin will aim to continue their strong start of the tournament in their next fixture against Mohammedan SC on September 26.
