Israel declares war against Hamas: The big numbers so far
On Saturday, Hamas fired at least 5,000 rockets in the first 20 minutes of the attack. Saturday's escalation is the bloodiest in decades.

Over 700 Israelis have been killed and another 1,000 wounded – a staggering toll on a scale the country has not experienced in decades.
Gaza officials said intense Israeli airstrikes on the coastal enclave had brought the Palestinian death count to at least 413, with thousands more wounded.
Preliminary reports indicate at least four Americans and one French citizen, 10 Nepali students were killed in the attacks, a US official said.
Israeli officials said about 100 soldiers and civilians have been abducted by Hamas.
The Israeli military estimated that 1,000 Hamas fighters took part in Saturday’s initial incursion.
Vowing justice, Israel has hit more than 800 targets in Gaza so far, its military said, including airstrikes that levelled much of the town of Beit Hanoun in the enclave’s northeast corner.
The Israeli Defense Forces says it has recruited 300,000 reservists since Saturday; its highest mobilisation ever.
Some countries have begun evacuating its citizens from Israel. Poland was one of the first, flying out 120 people on its first plane.
