Embarking on a cosmic journey, ISRO’s upcoming missions from 2023 to 2035 are set to redefine India’s role in space exploration, from launching satellites to establishing a space station.
Cosmic X-ray Study
The X-ray Polarimeter Satellite (XPoSat) is an ISRO planned space observatory to study cosmic X-rays. Launch expected on December 28, 2023.
Communication Aid
INSAT-3DS, a communication satellite, part of the INSAT series, aids in weather forecasting and disaster management. Launch expected in January 2024.
Orbital Test Flight
Gaganyaan 1, an Indian crewed orbital spacecraft, is the first of two flight tests. Launch expected in the first quarter of 2024.

Space Telescope
AstroSat-2, India’s second dedicated multi-wavelength space telescope, is proposed by ISRO. Launch expected in 2025.
Second Test
Flight Gaganyaan 2 is the second of two flight tests prior to the inaugural crewed mission. Launch expected in mid-2025.
Mars Orbiter
Mars Orbiter Mission 2 (MOM 2), also called Mangalyaan 2, is India’s second interplanetary mission. Launch expected in 2026.
Crewed Spacecraft
Gaganyaan 3, the first crewed Gaganyaan mission, could make India the fourth country to independently send humans in space. Launch expected in 2026.
Indian Space Station
Bharatiya Antariksha Station would maintain an orbit of approximately 400 kilometres above the Earth. Astronauts could stay for 15–20 days. Launch expected in late 2035.
