The 23-year-old was impressive in the next round against Christopher O'Connell.

Sinner overcame two tie-breakers to edge past Tommy Paul in the fourth round.

The World no. 1 defeated Daniil Medvedev in an epic four-set quarter-final.

Sinner won 7-5, 7-6 (7-3), 6-2 against UK’s Jack Draper to reach the final.

Sinner has now become the first-ever Italian tennis player to win the US Open title.

He won his first Grand Slam at the Australian Open earlier this year.
