BCCI secretary Jay Shah is set to succeed Greg Barclay as the new International Cricket Council (ICC) chairman.
The announcement of the office takeover was made by the global cricket body on Tuesday (August 27).
Shah will be the fifth Indian to head cricket’s global governing authority after Jagmohan Dalmiya (president), Sharad Pawar, N Srinivasan, and Shahank Manohar.
At 35, Shah will be the youngest ever to head the ICC. He will take over Barclay's role in November.
After Barclay stepped away from a third term of office, nominations for the post were to be submitted by Aug 27.
However, Jay Shah was the only candidate, elected unopposed as the next ICC chairman.
Shah mentioned in an ICC release that he aims to "globalise cricket" and "balance the coexistence of multiple formats" (of the game).
"Our goal is to make cricket more inclusive" and "to elevate the love for cricket worldwide", he said.
