Kerala-style chilli chicken is made with several desi spices like turmeric, cumin powder, black pepper, garam masala and more. You can try this chilli chicken recipe at home.
Ingredients Boneless Chicken - 500 gm Chilli Flakes - 2 tbsp Ginger (Crushed) - 1 tsp Garlic - 2 tbsp Curry leaves - 1 sprig Vinegar or Lemon Juice - 2 tsp Onion (Sliced) - 1 Tomato Puree - 1/2 cup Coconut Oil - 1/2 cup Black Peppercorns - 1/2 tsp Cardamom - 2 Fennel seeds - 1 tsp Coconut Slices - 1/4 cup Green chilies - 4
Step 1 Cut the chicken into small cubed-sized pieces and wash it with a little turmeric powder, drain it, and set it aside.
Step 2 Heat a pan and dry roast the dry spices. Once done, grind the above-roasted spices into a coarse powder.
Step 3 Marinate the chicken pieces with roasted powder, chilli flakes, ginger garlic paste, curry leaves, vinegar or lemon juice, salt to taste. Heat some oil in a pan and fry coconut slices and saute green chillies and onion. Add the curry leaves.
Step 4 Now, add marinated chicken pieces and combine well. Cook till the chicken is well cooked.
Step 5 Add the tomato puree. Once the chicken starts to dry and have attained the dark brown color then add fried coconut slices and combine well.
Step 6 Your chicken is ready to be enjoyed.
