Krishna Janmashtami is a joyous festival celebrating the birth of Lord Krishna. This year, Janmashtami will be observed on August 26, when people observe fast, pray, and prepare prasad for Lord Krishna. On the eve of Janmashtami and Dahi Handi, take a look at these quick and easy prasad recipes:
Panchamrit is a mixture of 5 items. The 5 things include ghee, milk, sugar, curd and honey. Tulsi leaves can also be added.
Make a sugar syrup by mixing sugar and water. Roast the makhana and add it to the sugar syrup. Spread this mixture on a greased dish and cut it into pieces once it is firm.
This popular sweet from Lord Krishna’s home town is made by roasting khoya in ghee until brown, then mixing in elaichi powder. Allow the mixture to cool and add powdered sugar, and give desired shape.
This traditional Janmashtami prasad is made by blending roasted coriander seeds, almonds, raisins, cashews, and sugar, then cooking the mixture in ghee.
Believed to be Lord Krishna’s favourite, Makhan Mishri is easy to prepare. Simply churn some fresh white butter and mix in mishri (sugar crystals). For an added touch of richness, you can sprinkle in chopped nuts before serving.
