By Bhagyashree Vaswani

After 7 rounds of elections, voting for the Lok Sabha elections concluded on Saturday June 1.

The counting will begin at 8 am IST on Tuesday, June 4.

Initial trends will start appearing shortly after the counting begins.

The final results will be announced on the night of June 4 or the morning of June 5.

44 days

That's the voting span for 2024  Lok Sabha polls which is the second largest in India’s history after 1951 polls that was spread over 4 months.

The shortest voting window was in 1980, of 4 days.

Who decides the date of counting?

The date and time of counting is fixed by the Election Commission of India.

The place is decided by the Returning Officer (RO).

Who’s doing the counting?

4 counting officials are appointed on each EVM counting table - a counting supervisor, a counting assistant, a counting staff and a micro observer.

Counting of votes for each assembly segment of a parliamentary constituency is performed in a single hall.

The counting hall has 14 TABLES, arranged parallelly.

The counting of postal ballot papers starts 30 minutes before the counting of votes through EVMs.

In each round of counting, votes from 14 EVMs are counted.
