Naveen Patnaik, the incumbent CM of Odisha, has been in office since March 2000 to June 2024, serving for 24 years, 98 days under the Biju Janata Dal.
Jyoti Basu, former CM of West Bengal, held office from June 1977 to November 2000, a tenure of 23 years, 137 days under the Communist Party of India (Marxist).
Gegong Apang, former CM of Arunachal Pradesh, served from January 1980 to January 1999 and again from August 2003 to April 2007, totaling 22 years, 250 days under various parties.
Lal Thanhawla, former CM of Mizoram, served from May 1984 to August 1986, then from January 1989 to December 1998, and finally from December 2008 to December 2018, totaling 22 years, 60 days under the Indian National Congress (INC).
Virbhadra Singh, former CM of Himachal Pradesh, served from April 1983 to March 1990, then from December 1993 to March 1998, again from March 2003 to December 2007, and finally from December 2012 to December 2017, totaling 21 years, 13 days under INC.
Manik Sarkar, former CM of Tripura, served from March 1998 to March 2018, a tenure of 19 years, 363 days under the Communist Party of India (Marxist).
M Karunanidhi, former CM of Tamil Nadu, served from February 1969 to January 1976, then from January 1989 to January 1991, again from May 1996 to May 2001, and finally from May 2006 to May 2011, totaling 18 years, 362 days under the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam.
Parkash Singh Badal, former CM of Punjab, served from March 1970 to June 1971, then from June 1977 to February 1980, again from February 1997 to February 2002, and finally from March 2007 to March 2017, totaling 18 years, 350 days under the Shiromani Akali Dal.
Yashwant Singh Parmar, former CM of Himachal Pradesh, served from March 1952 to October 1956, and then from July 1963 to January 1977, totaling 18 years, 83 days under INC.
