Hurun India has launched its 12th anniversary edition of 2023 M3M Hurun Global Rich List, in association with M3M India.

Here are the key findings of the report.

The total number of billionaires in the world declined 8% to 3,112 from 3,381 last year.

The total wealth declined by 10% to $13.7 trillion.

Asia with 57% of world’s population, accounted for 59% of new faces, 49% of billionaires & 39% of wealth.

North America & Europe between them have 15% of world population, 37% of new faces, 46% of billionaires & 57% of total wealth.

The top 3 sources of wealth are consumer goods (9.2%), financial services (9.1%), & healthcare.

Bernard Arnault & Bertrand Puech are the fastest risers adding $80 billion between them.

82 billionaires are under 40 of which 26 have inherited & 56 are self-made – down 30 from last year.

The number of self-made women declined by 22 to 247 as compared to last year. China dominated the list with 81%.

Diane Hendricks of ABC Supply is richest self-made woman in world for first time with $17 billion, whilst Francoise Bettencourt Meyers of L’Oréal is the richest woman in the world with $80 billion.

The number of immigrant billionaires increased to 13.7% with USA leading with 114 first-generation immigrant billionaires, followed by 57 in the UK & 54 in Switzerland.

Elon Musk of Tesla (born in South Africa) & Sergey Brin of Google (born in Russia) are the richest immigrants.
