Madhya Pradesh Assembly elections 2023:  Congress' big promises

Universal health insurance cover The Congress party has vowed to offer every citizen with health insurance coverage worth Rs 25 lakh, as well as accidental coverage for Rs 10 lakh.

IPL Team Madhya Pradesh will have an Indian Premier League (IPL) team of the state if the Congress comes to power in the upcoming Assembly elections.

Rs 1,500 per month to women The former state chief minister Kamal Nath also announced to provide an assistance of Rs 1,500 per month to women.

Allowance for school students The party, if elected to power, will also launch the 'Padho-Padhao Yojna,' under which government schoolchildren in grades 1 to 8 would receive Rs 500 per month, students in grades 9 and 10 will receive Rs 1,000 per month, and students in grades 11 and 12 will receive Rs 1,500 per month.

Job and unemployment allowance With a focus on the youth vote, Nath vowed to fill two lakh government posts in the state as well as grant an unemployment stipend ranging from Rs 1,500 to Rs 3,000 per month for two years.

27 per cent reservation for OBCs The Congress party has committed to reserve 27 per cent of government positions and educational institutions for Other Backward Classes (OBCs).

LPG cylinders at Rs 500 The Congress party has pledged to distribute LPG cylinders at a cost of Rs 500.

Free electricity The Congress also promised 100 units of free electricity and 200 units at half price to consumers, free power for a 5 HP irrigation motor to cultivators, a waiver of pending electricity dues for farmers, and the return of false cases related to electricity and farm agitations.

Waiver of farm loans The Congress party has promised to waive farm loans up to Rs 2 lakh.

Old Pension Scheme The Congress party has promised to implement the Old Pension Scheme.

Caste Census Following the release of the Bihar government's survey earlier this month, the Congress has made the caste-based survey a key issue in the MP elections.
