Maui wildfires: Concerns over 'climate gentrification' rise after devastating fires

The roaring wildfire that swept through a scenic town on the Hawaiian island of Maui this week had killed more than 100 people.

At least 2000 structures were distroyed. Damage was anticipated to be close to $6 billion doller over the island.

The wildfires are the state’s deadliest natural disaster in decades, surpassing a 1960 tsunami that killed 61 people.

Displaced residents are steadily filling hotels that are prepared to house them and provide services until at least next spring.

The cause of the wildfires, the deadliest in the US in more than a century, is under investigation but Hawaii is increasingly at risk from disasters.
