With the U-19 World Cup coming up soon, let us take a look at the most successful sides in the history of the tournament.
Defending champions India are the most successful side in the U19 World Cup with five titles. They have won titles in the 2000, 2008, 2012, 2018 and 2022 editions resepctively.
India won their inaugral title back in 2000 where they defeated Sri Lanka under the leadership of Mohammed Kaif and Yuvraj Singh was the Player of the tournament.
India's U-19 squad has produced many notable talents like Yuvraj Singh, Virat Kohli and many others.
The mighty Aussies have produced some fine talents in the tournament with a few from the 2010 squad featuring in the 2023 ODI World Cup as well. They have won the 1988 and 2002 and 2010 editions.
Pakistan had their golden era with their youth having taken consecutive World Cups in 2004 and 2006 respectively.
In what is the biggest upset, Bangladesh managed to secure the U19 WC title by beating the dominant India to secure their maiden trophy in 2020.
The boys in Maroon also managed to defeat the dominant India featuring current Indian stars like Ishan Kishan and Rishabh Pant to secure their maiden title in 2016.
Aiden Markram managed to lead the young South African side to their maiden U19 WC trophy by defeating Pakistan in 2014.
England managed to win the second edition of the tournament where they featured future senior stars like Graeme Swann, Owais Shah and others to lift the title in 1998
