MP Assembly Elections 2023:  The richest and poorest candidates in the fray

Among the 230 sitting MLAs in Madhya Pradesh, 186 are crorepati MLAs, as per a report by the Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR).

A large number, 107 out of these 186 crorepati MLAs, belong to the BJP.

MLA Sanjay Satyendra Pathak from the Vijayraghavgarh constituency in Madhya Pradesh’s Katni district is the richest candidate contesting the Assembly elections in the state.

Pathak and his wife have movable and immovable assets worth Rs 226 crore. He also owns an aeroplane along with several iron and marble mines.

Chetanya Kasyap, the BJP candidate fielded from Ratlam City constituency, has total assets worth Rs 204 crore, making him the second richest candidate in the upcoming Assembly elections.

Fighting from Indore-1, Congress' Sanjay Shukla is the third richest candidate in the fray, with the total declared assets worth Rs 139 crore.

BJP’s Ram Dangore, with assets valued at Rs 50,749, is the poorest candidate in Madhya Pradesh. He is fielded from Pandhana constituency, Khandwa.

With assets totalling Rs 7.35 lakh, BJP’s Usha Thakur is the candidate with the second lowest declared assets.

BJP’s Sharad, fighting from Beohari, Sehdol has declared assets totalling Rs 8.40 lakhs, the third lowest in Madhya Pradesh Assembly elections.

Madhya Pradesh chief minister has declared total assets worth Rs 8.62 crore in his affidavit. He is running from the Budhni Assembly constituency in Sehore district.

Former Chief Minister and Congress veteran Kamal Nath, with his wife Alka Nath, own assets worth Rs 134.09 crore, as per his poll affidavit. He has filed his nomination from his home turf Chhindwara.
