New Driving License Rules from June 1, 2024: See Details

Obtaining a driver’s licence in India will undergo significant changes beginning June 1.

The MoRTH announced that driving tests at the RTO are no longer required.

Private driving schools will be allowed to conduct tests and issue licence eligibility certificates.

Ministry has made it easier to obtain a new licence by reducing the documentation required.

The documents will vary depending on people applying for a two-wheeler or four-wheeler license.

The fine for speeding still ranges between Rs 1000 and Rs 2000.

If a minor is caught driving, he/she would face a hefty fine of Rs 25,000.

Additionally, vehicle owner’s registration will be cancelled, and minor won't get license until 25.

A learner’s licence (Form 3) costs Rs 150, plus an extra Rs 50 for the exam or repeat.

The charge for the driving test, or if a repeat test is needed, is Rs 300.
