Nirmala Sitharaman resumes role as Finance Minister for the 2nd term today

Nirmala Sitharaman assumed charge as Union Minister for Finance & Corporate Affairs in New Delhi today.

She was welcomed by Finance Secretary Dr. T.V. Somanathan and other ministry officials at the North Block office.

She expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the opportunity to serve again.

After taking charge, she was briefed on ongoing policy issues by ministry secretaries.

She urged departments to advance the NDA govt’s development agenda and ensure responsive policymaking.

She reiterated the govt's belief in ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas, Sabka Prayas’ and called for cooperation from all stakeholders to ensure a vibrant economy.
