North East Express derails: 4 dead, over 70 injured, inquiry ordered

Departing from Delhi’s Anand Vihar terminal at 7:40 am on Wednesday, the North East Express was en route to Kamakhya, near Guwahati. Tragically, the train derailed at 9:53 p.m. on the same day during its nearly 33-hour journey.

23 Coaches Derailed

23 coaches derailed near Raghunathpur station.

Fatal Derailment

Around 1,500 passengers were onboard during the incident.

High-Level Inquiry

Railways ordered a high-level inquiry into the North East Express derailment.

Ex-Gratia Announced

Rs 10 lakh ex-gratia for deceased’s kin, Rs 50,000 for injured.
