Paris Olympics 2024: Swapnil Kusale Clinches India's Third Bronze in Shooting

Indian shooter Swapnil Kushale created history by winning a bronze medal in the Men’s 50m Rifle 3 Positions on Thursday.

With his bronze win in day 6 of the 33rd Summer Olympics, India secured a third medal at Paris.

The 29-year-old had scored 451.4, ending at the third position, and making his Olympics debut memorable.

In the shooting event, participants had to aim in three different positions comprising 15 shots each – kneeling, prone and standing.

Kusale had finished seventh, having shot 198 (99, 99) in kneeling position, 197 (98, 99) in prone and 195 (98, 97) in standing position, making it to the final round.

India's first two bronze medals were won by Manu Bhaker in women's 10m air pistol and in mixed team event with Sarabjot Singh.

All three medals so far for India have come in shooting events – which is the best performance for the sport in Olympics for India.
