The India contingent clinched five medals on Tuesday (Sep 3) to record their best- ever medal haul in the Paralympics.
They won one in a sprint event, two in men's high jump, and two in javelin throw on day 6 of the quadrennial showpiece.
Indian sprinter Deepthi Jeevanji bagged a bronze medal in the women's 400m T20 final with a time of 55.82 seconds.
Sharad Kumar and Mariyappan Thangavelu struck a silver-bronze double in men’s high jump T63, with efforts of 1.88m and 1.85m, respectively.
In the men's javelin throw F46 final, Ajeet Singh won silver and Sundar Gurjar clinched a bronze medal.
Close medal misses- Shailesh Kumar finished fourth in men’s high jump T63 with a 1.85m best attempt. Rinku Hooda posted an SB of 61.58m to finish fifth.
India's previous best was 19 medals at the Tokyo Paralympics 2020, which they bettered at the ongoing Paris Paralympics.
