Shah Rukh Khan returned to the big screen after 4 years with the release of Pathaan. The movie, also featuring Deepika Padukone & John Abraham, released in over 5,000 screens across India.
Screening in over 8,000 screens across the globe, “Pathaan” is one of the widest Hindi releases of all time.
SRK fans queued up early morning for 6am & 7am shows in several cities, including Delhi-NCR and Mumbai.
Shah Rukh’s stubble look with flowing locks and fresh-from-the-battle scars was received with whistles and cheer.
Shah Rukh Khan Fans Club members were seen shouting slogans outside a theatre during the first day first show of the movie in Mumbai.
Fans were also seen taking selfies alongside cutouts of SRK and posters of the movie.
In Kolkata, fans of the Bollywood superstar participated in a procession to celebrate the release of the movie.
The movie was screened at PictureTime Digiplex, a travelling cinema hall in Leh, Ladakh, touted as the world's highest mobile theatre. Similar screenings are taking place in Asifabad (Telangana), Sardarshahar (Rajasthan) & in Arunachal.
However, the movie also faced protests by right-wing group in Bihar, Bengaluru, Uttar Pradesh & parts of Madhya Pradesh.
In Patna, Bajrang Dal activists raised slogans while Priests of Sant Pashupatinath Ved School burnt posters of the movie.
Members of Vishwa Hindu Parishad in Bengaluru were also seen raising slogans & burning posters of the movie.
In Bhopal, Bajrang Dal activists staged a protest at Rangmahal Cinema Hall & forced theatre owner to remove the poster of "Pathaan". The protesters also tore the film's posters.
