On Friday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi began a two-day visit to Bhutan. This is the prime minister's first trip to the Himalayan country since the new administration entered office. Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay welcomed Prime Minister Narendra Modi when he arrived at the Paro International Airport.
In the Bhutanese capital of Thimphu, children from Jigme Lasol Primary School, carrying both Indian and Bhutanese flags, flocked to the streets in hopes of seeing Prime Minister Modi. A school youngster expressed thanks for PM Modi's help amid difficult times and for India's support.
PM Modi is anticipated to receive the Order of the Druk Gyalpo, Bhutan's highest civilian honour, during his trip to the country surrounded by mountains. He is going to take part in a number of programmes in Bhutan that are designed to strengthen the relationship between the two nations.
“On the way to Bhutan, where I will be attending various programmes aimed at further cementing the India-Bhutan partnership. I look forward to talks with His Majesty the King of Bhutan, His Majesty the Fourth Druk Gyalpo, and Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay,” PM Modi wrote on X.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi says, "The Bharat-Bhutan partnership is not limited to land and water... Bhutan is now a partner of Bharat in its space missions. Scientists of Bhutan have launched satellites in collaboration with ISRO. We celebrate each other's achievements."
