Rajasthan Assembly Elections 2023:  A simple guide to the upcoming polls

The Rajasthan Assembly election will be held in a single phase on 25 November. The results of the vote counting will be announced on 3 December.

There are 200 Assembly constituencies in Rajasthan. The tenure of the Assembly will end on 14 January, 2024.

This year, for the first time in Rajasthan's Assembly elections, polling will take place for 11 hours instead of the usual nine hours.

Rajasthan has 5.2 million registered voters who will vote at 51,756 polling stations, 10,415 of which will be set up in urban areas and 41,341 in rural areas.

Since 1993, no CM has won two consecutive terms in the state.

Rajasthan can be divided into five major regions: Shekhawati, Mewar, Dhundhar, Marwar and Harouti. Marwar is the biggest region while Harouti is the smallest.

Marwar and Dhundhar regions in Rajasthan account for 119 seats, and are crucial for the 2023 elections.

While the BJP and the Congress dominate the Rajasthan Assembly elections, other small parties such as the Rashtriya Lok Dal, Bahujan Samaj Party, Rashtriya Loktantrik Party, Communist Party of India (Marxist), and AIMIM run candidates in several constituencies.

Paper leaks, law and order, divisiveness, and corruption are among the important topics in the Rajasthan Assembly elections in 2023.

Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, BJP's Vasundhara Raje, and Sachin Pilot, who has the support of the Gujjar community, are among the key players who can swing the election.
