Rajasthan Elections 2023:  All you need to know about the candidates in the fray

Out of the 1,875 candidates contesting the Rajasthan Assembly elections, 176 from the BJP and 167 from the Congress are crorepatis.

Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, running from Sardarpura Assembly seat in Jodhpur district, has declared movable assets (including of spouse) worth Rs 2.81 crore, along with Rs 8.87 crore in immovable assets.

Congress’ Rafique Mandelia, from Churu constituency in Churu district, is the richest candidate running in the 2023 Assembly elections in Rajasthan, with total asset of Rs 166 crore.

Data by ADR also shows that 326 candidates fighting the elections have criminal cases against them.

Data shows that 61 candidates from the BJP, 47 from the Congress, 12 from the BSP and 18 from the AAP have declared criminal cases.

Rashtriya Loktantrik Party’s Jaiprakash from the Khajuwala constituency tops the list with 22 criminal complaints against him.

In 2023, 11 candidates were found to be 'illiterate', a slight decrease from 12 in the 2018 election.

The number of candidates with a 10th-pass education level fell from 316 in 2018 to 258 this year.

Graduates numbered 323, graduate professionals 235, and postgraduates 316 in terms of professional qualifications, this year.
