Rajasthan Polls 2023: 9 key seats to keep an eye on
SardarpuraSince 1999, when he won a byelection in Jodhpur district, this seat has sent Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot to the Assembly without a pause. He received 63 per cent of the vote in the last election.
JhalrapatanFormer Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje has represented the BJP stronghold in Jhalawar district since 2003. In the previous election, Raje defeated former Union Minister Jaswant Singh's son Manvendra Singh Jasol by roughly 35,000 votes.
TonkCongress leader Sachin Pilot won the seat in 2018, challenging Ashok Gehlot's leadership in the state. Tonk has a high proportion of Gurjar, Scheduled Caste and Muslim voters.
LaxmangarhThe BJP has won only once here, in 2003. Govind Singh Dotasra, president of the Rajasthan Congress, has held the seat since 2008.
ChuruThis BJP stronghold has been represented by Rajendra Rathore, the Leader of the Opposition in Rajasthan Assembly, six times since 1990.
JhotwaraRajyavardhan Rathore is set to run for the Rajasthan Assembly seat of Jhotwara in the Jaipur district, which was won by Lalchand Kataria of the Indian National Congress in 2018.
Vidhyadhar NagarDiya Kumari, whom the BJP is portraying as its "next Vasundhara," has been fielded from this seat. This cosmopolitan seat in Jaipur was won by the BJP's Narpat Singh in 2018.
Bikaner WestThe Bikaner West Assembly constituency is predominantly home to Pushkarna Brahmins, minorities, and OBC voters. Dr BD Kalla, the state Education Minister, won it with 75128 votes in 2018.
UdaipurGulab Chand Kataria vacated the seat he had won six times when he was appointed governor of Assam earlier this year. The BJP has been victorious here four times consecutively in the 2003, 2008, 2013, and 2018 elections.
