Producer: Priyanka Das Editor: Manuj Yadav

Born in the year 1950 as Shivaji Rao Gaikwad, Rajinikanth was the youngest among his four siblings. His father was a police constable.

His epic propulsion from being a Bengaluru bus conductor to a universally revered demigod is something that is simply phenomenal.

He was recently conferred with 51st Dadasaheb Phalke Award for his outstanding contribution to Indian Cinema.

The only photo posted by him since he joined the social media platform, Instagram.

Rajinikanth's Annaatthe released in theatres on Diwali on November 4. The film has reportedly collected more than Rs 250 crore already.

Rajinikanth's personal life is like a film story. The actor struggled a lot during his formative years. From being a coolie to working as a bus conductor, Rajinikanth had to do several jobs to make both the ends meet.

An important moment came in his life when he fetched the attention of noted filmmaker K Balachander. Balachander recognised Rajinikanth's talent and featured him with Srividya and Kamal Haasan in 'Apoorva Raagangal'.

Slowly and steadily he gained the supreme position in the South cinema fraternity. His unique style and mannerism had become popular in Bollywood as well.

Whatever the actor did on-screen became sensational. Whether it was his laughter, how he walked, the seriousness in his voice or his mannerism when he appeared in front of the masses, everything was loved by the audience.

'Na oru dharava sonna, nooru dharava sonna madhiri' (If I say it once, it’s like saying it a 100 times). This line from Rajinikanth-starrer Baasha immortalised in Indian cinema since 1995.

In pic with another legend, Amitabh Bachchan.

His two daughters Aishwarya and Soundarya have turned directors now. Who other than Rajinikanth can be their mentor!
