Rewind 2023: Top performers in cricket across formats

WIth the year 2023 nearly drawing to a close, we take a look at some of the top performers in cricket across formats, both in the men’s as well as in the women’s game

For Shubman Gill, it was a breakthrough year with the Indian top-order batter finishing top of the Men’s ODI chart with 1,584 runs

Suryakumar Yadav, who has been leading India in the shortest format since the injury to Hardik Pandya, finished the highest run-scorer in Men’s T20Is with 733 runs (among the top 15 nations on the ICC Rankings)

Besides Gill and SKY, the other Indian to top a chat is left-arm wrist spinner Kuldeep Yadav, who finished the leading wicket-taker in Men’s ODIs with 49 wickets

Australia’s Usman Khawaja was the only batter to cross the 1,000-run mark in Tests, ending the year with 1,210 runs to his name

Veteran Australian off-spinner Nathan Lyon was the highest wicket-taker in Men’s Tests with 47 scalps to his credit

Coming to the women’s game, Australian all-rounder Ashleigh Gardner finished the leading wicket-taker in both Tests and ODIs with 17 and 23 wickets respectively

West Indies’ Hayley Matthews finished the leading run-scorer in women’s T20Is by a fair distance with exactly 700 runs

New Zealand all-rounder Amelia Kerr was the highest run-scorer in women’s ODIs this year with 541 runs
