Actor-filmmaker Satish Kaushik died of a heart attack at the age of 66. Kaushik is survived by his wife and daughter.

Kaushik, known as an actor, director, writer and producer, worked on a range of films over four decades.

PM Modi said, "He was a creative genius who won hearts thanks to his wonderful acting and direction. His works will continue to entertain audiences. Condolences to his family and admirers.”

Union Home Minister Amit Shah said, Kaushik's "contribution to Indian cinema, artistic creations and performances will always be remembered".

Haryana CM Manohar Lal Khattar said Kaushik will always be remembered for his unmatched acting and direction.

Bollywood veteran Anupam Kher said, "A sudden full stop to 45 years of friendship. Life will never be the same without you Satish! Om Shanti.”

Ajay Devgn said, "His presence filled a frame. In life too, whenever we met, he brought a smile to my face. Condolences to his family.”

Kareena Kapoor Khan said that she was "extremely heartbroken". "...Thinking of all our times together. Rest in laughter and peace," she said.

Kangana Ranaut said, "He was my biggest cheerleader, a very successful actor and director #SatishKaushik ji personally was also a very kind and genuine man, I loved directing him in Emergency.”

Riteish Deshmukh said, “Your hearty laugh still rings in my ears. Thank you for being a kind and generous co actor, thank you for being a silent teacher. You will be missed, your legacy will live on in our hearts.”

Akshay Kumar said, “Chanda Mama is gone. Deeply saddened to hear about Satish Kaushik ji’s demise. Will remember him for the spontaneous laughter he brought to the sets of Mr & Mrs Khiladi.”
