Rohit Sharma recorded his 5th T20I century against Afghanistan on Wednesday.
It was India’s 3rd T20I of the series hosted at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.
While batting first, India were in a dire situation, losing 4 wickets at just 22 runs.
Virat Kohli and Sanju Samson both got out for ducks.
Rohit came to his team’s rescue by smashing 121 runs in 69 balls.
The Indian skipper smashed 11 boundaries and 8 sixes in the innings.
Rohit’s latest ton saw him go past his previous best of 118 against Sri Lanka in 2017.
This is his first century in the format since his 111-run knock in 2018 versus the West Indies.
Rohit also became the first player in history to reach the landmark of 5 T20I tons.
He was previously tied with Suryakumar Yadav and Glenn Maxwell at 4 centuries.
