Rajasthan Royals put an end to Royal Challengers Bengaluru's 6-match winning streak on Wednesday's (May 22) Eliminator.
Tom Kohler-Cadmore and Yashasvi Jaiswal set the tone for RR in the tricky chase of 173 at the Narendra Modi Stadium.
After losing skipper Samon at 17 and Jurel at just 8, Riyan Parag and Shimron Hetmyer collected 28 runs in their two overs,bringing RR back to the chase.
Then Rovman Powell smashed a couple of fours and a six to Lockie Ferguson in the 19th over to ensure RCB’s farewell from IPL 2024.
Earlier, RCB scored 172/8 after being put to bat first. Rajat Patidar top-scored with 34 runs off 22 balls.
In-form opener Virat Kohli made 33 off 24 while Mahipal Lomror chipped in with a brisk 17-ball 32.
Cameron Green and Glenn Maxwell were dismissed by R Ashwin in successive balls. With it, Ashwin recorded an excellent figure of 2/19 in four overs.
Apart from Ashwin's player of the match- winning performance, Avesh Khan's 3/44 in his four overs is also noteworthy.
