When shopping for the perfect bedsheet, most people focus on fibre type, quality, and weave, but there’s another factor that deserves equal attention: thread count

What is thread count?

Thread count refers to the number of horizontal and vertical threads woven into one square inch of fabric. A higher thread count means finer yarns, leading to a smoother and softer fabric

As the yarn gets finer, the sheets feel more luxurious and comfortable. Sheets between 300 to 600 thread counts are softer and durable, but always ensure the yarn  quality is equally high

A higher thread count often results in  more durable sheets. The increased density of threads makes the fabric less likely to wear out quickly

Bedsheet's durability also depend on the quality of the yarn. Opt for sheets made from long-staple cotton fibres, which are spun tightly. They last longer and resist wear and tear better

Thread count alone doesn't guarantee comfort. What's woven into those threads matters just as much. The type of fibre used in your sheets plays a significant role in determining their feel and longevity

Cotton, bamboo, and microfibre each bring something different to the table, but high-quality cotton like Egyptian or Supima cotton will always outperform lower-grade options, regardless of thread count

Longer cotton fibres, known as  long-staple, are softer and more durable. Sheets made with short-staple fibres tend to have a rougher texture and are more prone to pilling and tearing

The way the fabric is woven can impact the overall feel and durability of the sheets. Percale weaves offer a crisp, breathable feel, while sateen weaves have a smoother, more luxurious texture

People often overlook weaving  techniques when selecting bedsheets,  but it’s essential to consider it, especially if you’re looking for that perfect balance between style and comfort
