Shubman Gill’s recent good form at the World Cup has finally paid off.
Gill overtook Pakistan skipper Babar Azam to claim the top spot in the ICC batting rankings.
Gill became just the fourth Indian player to hold the top spot in the ODI batting rankings.
Sachin Tendulkar, MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli had previously achieved this feat.
Gill has so far scored 219 runs in six World Cup matches.
Kohli has jumped three places in the rankings to claim the fourth spot.
Kohli is now just one point behind South Africa’s Quinton de Kock.
Gill currently has an 830 rating points.
Second-placed Babar is at 824.
Babar has till now scored 282 runs in eight World Cup games.
