India aced their T20 World Cup 2024 opener by crushing Ireland and clinching an 8-wicket win at New York's Nassau County Stadium on Wednesday (June 5).

Arshdeep Singh kicked off the innings well by taking two wickets in the powerplay.
Vice-captain Hardik Pandya also recorded three-fer in four overs, bowling out Ireland for just 96 runs in 16 overs.
Only Gareth Delany crossed the twenty-run mark, as the Indian seamers got the better of the Irish batters.
In the second innings, skipper Rohit Sharma scored 52 (37) before retiring hurt. With that, he attained a massive feat of 4000 runs in T20Is.
He also recorded the most wins as the Indian captain in T20Is with India's first Group A match victory.
Then with Rishabh Pant's 36 off 26, India chased down the target in 12.2 overs with 46 deliveries to spare.
