T20 World Cup 2024: South Africa vs Afghanistan Match Highlights

South Africa became the first finalists of the T20 World Cup 2024, by clinching a 9 wicket semi-final win against Afghanistan on Thursday (June 27) at Tarouba.

Opting to bat first backfired on Afghanistan as they were crushed by the Proteas bowlers, getting all-out at just 56 in 11.5 overs.

Azmatullah Omarzai was the top scorer for his side with just 10 runs off 12 balls. The rest of the batters remained at single-digit figures.

The pace trio of Marco Jansen (3/16), Kagiso Rabada (2/14), and Anrich Nortje (2/7) shared seven wickets among themselves, bowling three overs each.

Spinner Tabraiz Shamsi also picked up three wickets in the later half of the first innings, dismantling the Afghans. He registered stellar figures of 3/6 (1.5).

In the second innings, Afghanistan's Fazalhaq Farooqi was the only one with a wicket, as he dismissed opener Quinton de Kock at 5.

Then skipper Markram and Reeza Hendricks finished it early, chasing the total down in 8.5 overs, with their unbeaten 23 and 29, respectively.

Thus, South Africa's one-sided show crushed Afghanistan's maiden World Cup final dream.
