South Indian Ashoka Halwa

It is a simple and easy South Indian version of moong dal halwa made without milk. Try this Ashoka halwa recipe at home.
Ingredients
Moong dal - 2 cup
Whole wheat flour - 1/2 cup
Ghee - 1 cup
Sugar - 1/2 cup
Saffron - A pinch
Cardamom powder - 1 tsp
Cashews (optional) - 2 tbsp
Raisins (optional) - 2 tbsp
Step 1
Pressure cook moong dal with about 1 tsp of ghee and water until about 4 whistles. Cool and blend the dal to a smooth paste. Keep it aside.
Step 2
Roast wheat flour
and cardamom powder together until it is lump-free. Roast cashews separately.
Step 3
Add this mix to the pressure-cooked dal and cook until it thickens, for about 15 minutes.
Step 4
Cook until it turns glossy.
Step 5
Top it with roasted nuts and serve hot.
