Tomato rasam is known for its tangy and spicy flavour. Monsoon is the perfect time to whip up some delicious rasam. Try this easy recipe of tomato rasam at home.
Prepare masala by heating some toor dal, fenugreek seeds, coriander seeds, red chillies, black pepper, cumin seeds, and garlic cloves, and roast them on a low flame.
Add mustard seeds and curry leaves. Roast it until the leaves are dry.
Let the masala cool, and coarse-grind it.
Wash and peel tomatoes and chop them thoroughly. Now, add tamarind juice to the tomatoes. Keep it aside.
Heat some oil in a kadhai and add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, and hing.
Saute red chillies and curry leaves for some time. Add turmeric powder and Kashmiri red chilli powder. Mix it well.
Add the tomatoes and mix well. Add some salt according to the taste. Add water and let it boil for a while.
Now, add rasam masala, and mix well. Garnish with coriander leaves and serve.
