Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour film release estimated to have blockbuster-style opening weekend numbers.
Swift’s US ticket sales topped $95 million, falling short of the $100 million benchmark.
“The Eras Tour” accounted for over 70% of the total weekend box office grosses.
The film became the highest-grossing concert film release in the US, surpassing Justin Bieber’s “Never Say Never”.
Internationally, it’s estimated to have earned between $31 to $33 million, bringing its global total to $126 million to $130 million.
Swift’s Eras Tour film is the widest-released concert film in history, debuting in more than 3,850 US locations.
Monday’s tally will reveal if Swift captured the highest opening of October, currently held by 2019′s “The Joker” ($96.2 million).
The film could be the 6th or 7th-highest opening of 2023. Disney’s “The Little Mermaid” secured $95.6 million when it opened in May.
Word of mouth and fan’s love of Swift could push it closer to that $100 million figure.
The film scored $39 million on Friday, just shy of the forecasted range of $40 million and $60 million.
60% of tickets for the weekend were bought in advance, one of the highest rates ever seen.
Around 4.8 million people were estimated to have attended the film over the weekend. Nearly 80% of the audience was female.
