Telangana Assembly Elections 2023:  Candidates facing criminal charges 

Out of the 2,290 candidates contesting in the Telangana Assembly elections, 521 (around 23 per cent) have declared criminal cases against themselves.

Anumula Revanth Reddy of the Congress tops the list, with 89 criminal cases filed against him. He is running from the from the Kodangal constituency.

T Raja Singh of the BJP's Goshamahal constituency comes in second with 87 reported criminal offences.

BJP's Bandi Sanjay Kumar, from the Karimnagar constituency, has 59 criminal charges on his record.

In the Congress, 85 out of 118 candidates (72 per cent) have criminal cases against them.

For the BJP, 79 out of 111 candidates (71 per cent) are facing criminal charges in the Telangana elections.

Seven sitting MLAs, including prominent figures such as T Raja Singh (Goshamahal), M Bhupal Reddy (Narayankhed), Athram Sakku (Asifabad), CM K Chandrashekar Rao (Gajwel), T Harish Rao (Siddipet), Danam Nagender (Khairatabad), and M Yadagiri Reddy (Jangaon), are currently facing charges related to attempted murder.

Four MLAs are involved in cases involving crimes against women, while BJP's M Raghunandhan Rao of Dubbak has been accused with rape.

The BRS has the most FIRs filed against its MLAs, with as many as 59 legislators facing charges.
