The Telangana state government has assigned new Toyota Land Cruiser vehicles to its cabinet ministers.
These vehicles were purchased by the previous Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) administration.
In 2023, the BRS government bought 22 vehicles at ₹3 crore each before the assembly elections.
The vehicles were sent to a company near Vijayawada to be fitted with bulletproof glass windshields.
The purchase came to light after the BRS party lost power and the Congress government took office in December 2023.
Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy revealed this issue during a press conference at the Secretariat on 27 December 2023.
Revanth Reddy expressed surprise when officials informed him about the costly, bulletproof vehicles.
The CM has decided to allocate these vehicles to his cabinet ministers, which includes 11 ministers with six vacancies.
