Telangana Votes Today:  Everything you need to know about the political battle

Voting is being held in Telangana from 7 am to 6 pm for 119 Assembly seats on Thursday (30 November).

Around 2,290 contestants are in the fray; the prominent names include BRS supremo and Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, his minister-son K T Rama Rao, TPCC president A Revanth Reddy and BJP Lok Sabha members Bandi Sanjay Kumar, D Arvind and Soyam Bapu Rao.

There are 44 candidates running in the Gajwel and 39 in the Kamareddy Assembly constituencies, from where K Chandrasekhar Rao is contesting.

KCR will face BJP MLA Eatala Rajender from the Gajwel seat, while the saffron party’s K Venkata Ramana Reddy is fighting against the Telangana CM from the Kamareddy constituency.

KCR’s son and the working BRS chief, KT Rama Rao has been given a ticket from Sircilla, where he will face BJP’s Rani Rudrama Reddy and Congress leader Kondam Karuna Mahender Reddy.

The L B Nagar segment has the most candidates (48), while the Banswada and Narayanpet seats have the fewest (seven).

The state boasts 3.26 crore eligible voters, with the Serilingampally segment leading the count at over 7.32 lakh voters, while Bhadrachalam recorded the lowest with 1.49 lakh electors.

Telangana's most pressing issue is unemployment, which came to light after a woman aspiring for government job died by suicide in October.

Farmers constitute a large voting bloc in Telangana. The BRS has promised to raise the amount available under the Rythu Bandhu farm investment support plan.

The BRS won 88 of the 119 seats in 2018, while the Congress came in second with only 19 seats. The BJP received only one seat.
