Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma welcomed their second child, a baby boy named Akaay, on Feb 15, 2024. The name Akaay means something that is immortal, beyond the physical or doesn’t decay. It is derived from the Hindi word “kaaya” meaning form or body.
The couple’s first child is named Vamika, which is an epithet of the Goddess Durga. The name “Vamika” is also derived from the name of her parents – “V” from Virat and “ka” from Anushka.
Another celebrity baby whose name is derived from the name of her parents is Misha Kapoor – the daughter of Shahid Kapoor and Mira Rajput.
Shahid and Mira also have a five-year-old son named Zain. The name is Arabic in origin and means beauty or grace.
Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor welcomed a baby girl in November 2022. The meaning of the name was revealed by Alia herself – “Raha, in its purest form means divine path,” she wrote. “in Swahili she is Joy. In Sanskrit, Raha is a clan. In Bangla - rest, comfort, relief. In Arabic peace,” the actress explained.
Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas’s daughter is named after her two grandmothers. The name Malti is derived from the plant madhumalti, which is a type of flowering vine.
Sonam Kapoor and Anand Ahuja welcomed their baby boy in August 2022 and named him Vayu. “In Hindu scriptures Vayu is one of the paanch tatvas. He is the deity of breath, the spiritual father of Hanuman, Bheem and Madhav and He is the incredibly powerful lord of wind,” Sonam explained.
Ram Charan and Upasana named their daughter Klin Kaara. “Taken from the Lalitha Sahasranamam the name signifies a transformative, purifying energy that brings about a spiritual awakening,” the parents explained.
