Top 10 Indian Athletes/Events To Watch Out for in the Asian Games 2023

Esports

For the first time in the competition's history, Esports will make its debut as a medal event and India has a 15-member squad competing in four out of the seven events. This includes, Dota 2, FIFA Online 4, League of Legends and Street Fighter V: Champion Edition. Charanjot Singh and Karman Singh will be taking part in the FIFA Pro event. 

Shooting

Youth Olympics gold medalist Manu Bhaker and former world champion Rudrankksh Patil leads a 33-member contingent set to compete in 6 disciplines spread across the Men, Women and Mixed Categories. 

Table Tennis

Sharath Kamal and Asian Cup bronze medallist Manika Batra will lead India’s 10-member table tennis contingent and will look to improve upon their previous campaign where they managed to win their first medals in Asian Games history last year. 

Shotput

Tajinderpal Singh will be the focus as he will look to continue from the previous edition where he won gold.

Indian Men's Football Team

After winning the SAFF Championship this year, Sunil Chettri's men will look to bring home a medal as they face stif competition with the likes of Japan, Iran, Australia and more.

Mirabai Chanu

The silver medalist from Tokyo, 2020 in the 49 kg women's weightlifting category will be making her Asian Games 2023 debut as she eyes the gold medal. 

Indian Men’s Hockey Team

The side will be led by Harmanpreet Singh as they look to be the favorites in the competition being one of the best sides from Asia. 

Indian WoMen’s Cricket Team

India being the undisputed favorities as they pack a star-studded squad with the likes of Harmanpreet Kaur leading the side. They will look to bring home the gold blowing off the competition. 

Indian men’s Cricket Team

The undisputed favourites to win the gold, Ruturaj Gaikwad will look to bring the gold home with a young team which has had plenty of experience performing in the IPL. 

Neeraj Chopra

Looking to carry forward his Asian Games 2018 gold medal-winning performance this year, Neeraj Chopra will continue to maintain his run of good form after establishing himself as the best Javelin thrower and will look to secure another gold.
